5 Sutras (or recommendations to live by) for the Aquarian Age

It’s no longer dawning, we have arrived! We moved from the Piscean Age into the Aquarian Age on the 11th of November 2011. For the next few years we will be in a ‘settling’ stage as the world transitions into a new way of being.

So, what is this new age and what exactly should we be prepared for?

You will have noticed over the last few years a shift in consciousness. Like everything is speeding up. More and more people are looking for alternative ways to be and more and more people are meditating and connecting to their spirit.

Yogi Bhajan said that during this time people will start freaking out. People will suffer from a thing called Cold Depression. This state is when you are so removed from your true self and so detached from spirit that you don’t really know what you truly need to be happy and you are not even aware that you have detached from the true essence of life. Many people will experience this. On the other side, this time offers an opportunity to truly tune in and connect strongly with your spirit. For those who are investing in their soul and their true inner self, the times now are better than ever for being able to access your infinite essence. A heart centred space is more easily accessible now than ever. Take this opportunity and live in light.

Yogi Bhajan gave 5 sutras (or recommendations to live by) for this time. I’d like to share them with you. They’re simple and easy to use and they’ll help with living daily life.

1. Recognise that the other person is you

The phrase “we are all one” is captured here. Know that your experience is drawn from your own state. See that we are all here on this earth doing our best. We are all connected. What you see in another person is a mirror of a part of you. When we recognise this, we are able to practice compassion and understanding. We’re also able to learn from others.

2. Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times

Now is not a time for blame. It’s a time to see through your own and other people’s ‘stuff’ and serve. It’s time to help elevate – first yourself – through your practice of awareness, care for yourself, connect to nature, eat nature’s foods, move your physical body and meditate. And then for others – allow them their journey and look for the god in them. Share your heart space and awareness with others. Share the love and what you have learned in life where you can.

3. There is a way through every block

Blocks are a part of life. There might be a block to getting where you want to go. That block may be another person, a situation, financial, emotional, or it might be fear. Know that there is a way through every block. Set your intention and open up to possibilities. Trust that what comes will be right for you. Learn your lessons and grow. Use mantra, use the breath, use all that you have learned to carry you in this time.

4. Vibrate the cosmos, the cosmos shall clear the path

Sometimes (many times actually!) I really have no idea what I’m supposed to do in a situation. Times like that I recognise that I don’t know and that’s ok. I chant, I vibrate from my heart and I wait to see what is presented to me – then I know that’s the path I’m meant to go down. Maybe it’s all sorted out for me then and there, or maybe that path doesn’t look so appealing, but there’s a lesson for me there. Trust, move through it and see what happens.

If you’re in a situation where you don’t know what to do or how best to respond. Just take one moment – inhale long and deep through your nose, exhale through your mouth and drop into your heart space. Do this as many times as you need. Then lead from your heart. When your intention is there and you’re open to the ‘not knowing’ things will work themselves out with less complications. Remember to understand through compassion and the other person is you. We’re all in this together 🙂

5. When the time is on you, start, and the pressure will be off.

It seems like things are speeding up. When will it stop?? Well, it won’t, it’s time to look at how you approach your life and the choices you make for yourself. Don’t bother freaking out about it, just start whatever it is that needs to be done, have compassion and recognise that you are doing your best and that’s truly all that you can do. Then let the cosmos take care of the rest.
